One of the best remedies I have found for sport-related type back pain (or any muscle strain or bruising) is Arnica Montana, a homeopathic remedy that comes in tablet and cream form. This remedy is available at health food stores, many drug stores and from on-line health stores. Just follow directions on Arnica vial and I would recommend you use the 30X or 30C strength. Use only until symptoms subside. I'd combine both the cream and the tablets. Tiger Balm is also helpful as a natural heat-inducing type rub. Emu oil is also fantastic for muscle pain. Herbs that help muscle inflammation include ginger and the Ayurvedic remedy Boswellia. Take one to two grams of powdered ginger a day or follow dosage directions on the Boswellia capsules.
