Kids with low levels of vitamin C, iron, zinc & Omega-3 fatty acids are more likely to have reduced resistance to illness. Some of the foods highest in these nutrients include citrus fruits, apricots, sweet potatoes, green vegetables, squash (like spaghetti squash), fish & nuts, particularly almonds, sunflower seeds, flaxseeds & walnuts. Try to incorporate these foods into their diets and it will help give then an extra line of defense against the flu and cold season.
