June 18, 2010, Newsletter Issue #357: Tummy Woes & Herbs

Tip of the Week

The stomach is frequently an area that rebels the most if someone is undergoing chemo but many people have found relief from nausea by taking ginger either in capsules or by making ginger tea. Slice a few small pieces from fresh ginger root and boil in water for 5 minutes then allow to steep an additional ten minutes. Drain, sweeten with honey if desired, and enjoy. Also, great for helping inflammation. Mint, peppermint, and chamomile teas are also friends to the digestive system and are particularly helpful for heartburn. Those with acid reflux should avoid mint.
