Backaches are like headaches - lots of different causes and lots of different approaches to easing them. Itīs important to rule out any medical causes for the problem so it`s advised that you check things out initially with a doctor.

Then begin from a nutritional stand point by avoiding meat and animal proteins until your back feels better. Meats contain uric acid that puts extra strain on your kidneys, which in turn can cause extra back pain. AND as tempting as it may be to try to mask the symptoms as quickly as possible - AVOID turning to prescription and even over-the-counter pain relievers and anti-inflammatories.

One of the best remedies I have found for sport-related type back pain (or any muscle strain or bruising) is Arnica Montana, a homeopathic remedy that comes in tablet and cream form. This remedy is available at health food stores, many drug stores and from on-line health stores. Just follow directions on Arnica vial and I would recommend you use the 30X or 30C strength. Use only until symptoms subside. Iīd combine both the cream and the tablets. Tiger Balm is also helpful as a natural heat-inducing type rub. Emu oil is also fantastic for muscle pain.
