Can Vinegar Damage My Teeth?
If you have ever heard that brushing your
teeth with vinegar can make them whiter, it is true BUT it can ruin your teeth in the process. According to Flora Parsa Stay, DDS, a dentist in Oxnard, CA & author of "The Complete Book of
Dental Remedies", itīs important to know that vinegar is acidic. An acidic oral cavity can act as a breeding ground for bacteria in plaque - the opposite of what you want for cavity & gum disease prevention. Too frequent use of vinegar as a gargle or tooth cleanser can also dry out gum tissues, which if chronic, may be linked to cancer.
