Why Should I Not Mix Antiseizure Meds with Glutamine Supplements?

Glutamine & Antiseizure Medication Dangers

Glutamine or L-glutamine, an amino acid dervived from glutamic acid, is used as a treatment for allergies, digestive problems like irritable bowel syndrome and for treating various symptoms experienced by athletes who train too vigorously. It is thought to be a safe supplement when taken at recommended divided dosages generally in the 1.5 to 6 grams daily range. If, however, you are taking an antiseizure medication, DO NOT take glutamine supplements without your doctor's approval. High dosages of glutamine may overwhelm these drugs and pose a risk prone to seizures.

My son's doctor told him that taking high doses of glutamine will cause brain cells to die and will eventually cause Parkinson's Disease. Has anyone else heard this?
