December 18, 2009, Newsletter Issue #332: Avoid Tinctures Made With Alcohol

Tip of the Week

Alcohol is frequently used in tinctures that are concentrated and contain liquid botanical essences because it helps preserve them. The alcohol, however, CAN make your child feel drowsy or woozy IF they are given too many doses in a day. Their tiny systems cannot absorb the alcohol well, so look for tinctures that are made with GLYCERINE as a preservative instead. Itīs safer and can make the tincture more palatable to kids.
