January 19, 2007, Newsletter Issue #182: Cold-Fighting Vitamin C Tea

Tip of the Week

For an outstanding tea extraordinarily high in Vitamin C - wash the skins of the citrus fruits with a mild dish soap and squeeze the juice from two halved oranges, one half of the grapefruit and a halved lemon into two cups of water in a pan. Add the squeezed-out rinds and bring the mixture to a boil, allowing it to boil for 5 minutes. Simmer for one hour. Remove rinds and pour yourself a steaming cup of citrus tea guaranteed to soothe your throat and give your body a much needed dose of Vitamin C to help fight an invading cold or flu virus. A teaspoon of rose hips, a slice of ginger or honey can add more zing, and if hot tea doesnīt send you, this can be chilled. Store any leftovers in the fridge and heat up when needed.
